Michael Booker has been the Division Chair of Communication and Fine Arts since 2013; he has taught Philosophy at Jefferson College since 1999. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University at Mankato) in 1982. He earned his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Philosophy at the University of Tennessee in 1987 and 1990. His major area of study in graduate school was Medical Ethics. Michael has been married to Anne Christiansen since 1987. They have two sons, Jonathan and Timothy. He is retired from the Army Reserve, having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is a member of the Institutional Ethics Committee at Mercy Hospital - Jefferson. He is chair of the Jefferson College Institutional Review Board. He has also appeared on the Jefferson College stage, with roles in over a dozen theatrical productions including "Noises Off," "Comedy of Errors," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."

Mark Byington earned his A.A. degrees from Mineral Area College. He went on to earn his B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University and his M.P.A. degree from City University in Bellevue Washington. He served as a police officer with the Dallas Police Department and with the Mineral Area College Department of Public Safety. He is the former director of the Mineral Area College Law Enforcement Academy and the Missouri Police Corps under the direction of the Office of Justice Programs. He is also a two term POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Commissioner and served as training advisor and consultant to the Baltimore Police Commissioner and the City of Baltimore from 2007-2011. He currently serves as Law Enforcement advisor to the Center for Research on Institutions and Social Policy (CRISP).
