Course Description
LEA 110 Intro to Law Enforcement
|
Prerequisite: Reading proficiency and admission to the Law Enforcement Academy
Introduction to Law Enforcement is the basic course that provides the student with brief overview of the evolution of law enforcement from its historical development to present day structure, the function as well as the philosophy of law enforcement. The course focuses on the current policing trends and how these have been impacted by current events, media and social networking. This course utilizes the current Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) curriculum and includes ethical considerations, as well as an overview of the law enforcement function within the criminal justice system. The system components include the role of the current peace officer in today’s dynamic, multi-cultural communities. (D)
